#metoo

October 28, 2017

#me too

Whatever your opinion or experience on the matter is, I wanted to share my 2 cents around the issue. If you are not familiar with this hashtag and social media trend, it was in response to a tweet Alyssa Milano wrote,

“Me too… If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote ‘Me too’ as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem. Please copy/paste.”

Although I’m not sure social media is the best way to talk about these things, I do value that these conversations are being brought to the forefront more and more.

But why do they have to be?  Doesn’t society KNOW by now WTF is going on?

Harassment is not ok. Violence is not ok.  It is so sad to see the flood of #metoos in my feed.  And I know its not just women who are affected.

This is one of the reasons I’m doing this work around sexuality.  I truly feel if people were able to safely express their desires there would be less of this shadow.  The harassment, violence, etc.

I too have my share of  “me too” experiences.

From the dentist when I was 7, to being flashed walking home from school in middle school, to inappropriate comments being made to me by drunk men driving me home from babysitting their kids, to being raped in college, to having my No being ignored, to being harassed at a job by a coworker every night at closing.

I don’t have the answers, but I do believe that being vulnerable and talking about this can help.   I also believe in teaching body safety, proper terms for anatomy, and lessons around consent from day one.

To allowing our boys to be boys in many ways, and not have to constantly fight to prove their masculinity.  (on a side note there is a great documentary I recommend “The Mask You Live In” around how our culture harms boys.

In the words of my beautiful friend Caroline Diaco..”Let us allow this to unite us and not divide. To begin to heal. I celebrate a man who posted #idid on his status. For every woman who posts #metoo, there is a man who needs to apologize, to her, to himself, to be forgiven – collectively. We’ve all been deeply negatively conditioned around this beautiful sexual system of ours that is meant to be understood and engaged as holistically as eating, sleeping and exercising. I invite a safe, compassionate, positive conversation for men as well.”

Let’s keep the conversation going.  You can also check out my video about this HERE.

“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life” – Winston Churchill

September 20, 2017

Well yesterday one of my of my YouTube videos got a strike. It didn’t violate any of their policies, but someone didn’t like what I was saying so was trying to get it taken down.

Yes, I get hate comments and mean things sent to me because of my work.

Does it hurt? Yes.

But, Haters gonna Hate right?

I believe in what I stand for. Women living in pleasure. Feeling whole. Feeling complete.

Living a life feeling powerful and connected to themselves, vs feeling shut down, miserable, and depressed.

This is nothing we are taught coming along.

When I found myself waking up resentful, and exhausted before the day even began, I realized something had to change.

I’d done the years of personal growth and development. Read the books, gone to the seminars.

But still something was missing.

Connecting to myself, and learning to love and appreciate my sexuality was the missing key to my personal growth.

This was not something I expected to find so transformational, but because of the changes I experienced in my life doing this work, I KNEW other women had to learn about it.

That is why I am so dedicated to teaching this work.

It shouldn’t be so hard to find information around this subject. It shouldn’t be so taboo to talk about sexuality and pleasure.

So yes, I guess I do have enemies. But I stand for what I believe in, and the more empowered, magnificently turned on women in the world, the better the world will be!

Is there a time you’ve been hated on for doing something you believe in? Would love to hear your experiences.

The Guilt Free Sexy Revival

April 28, 2017

Are you tired of always being last on your list? Are you ready to feel like yourself again?

You know, that flirty, sexy, vibrant, radiant version that’s just a bit dusty after a few years of kids, parenting, no sleep, constant caregiving, and work?

Yes, she’s still there Mama.

Let’s revive that woman with these 5 guilt free, simple techniques!

  1. Create time. Make time for you a priority. What can you say “NO” to? What can you delegate so you have more time for yourself? Eliminate the things that you don’t feel a full body “YES” to, so you can make time for yourself. Creating time for self-care is essential to feeling sexy.

  1. Start a Pleasure journal. Pay attention to the things that bring you joy! For many of us moms, we totally numb out to what we enjoy, as we are so focused on taking care of everyone else.   Write down the things that make you feel good. Experiences you enjoy. The beautiful things you see. When was the last time you laughed so hard your stomach hurt? What were you doing? When was the last time you had amazing sex? What smells good? What tastes good? What sounds do you enjoy? What kinds of things feel good on your skin? What are you grateful for? When you enjoy something – take note!

  1. Get Sensual. Sensuality is all about basking in your senses. Take time to revel in each of your senses. Grab something yummy to eat. Put it on a pretty plate; enjoy the smell and the taste of the food. (leftover mac n cheese from your kids plate doesn’t count) Listen to music you enjoy, fill your space with scents you love, things that feel good to touch, and spend some time enjoying your senses. This is so nourishing to the nervous system, and so powerful in bringing back pleasure.

  1. Bring back Desire.   Do you have a pulse on what you want? Take 10 minutes and write down everything you want, from small to big. Don’t edit yourself; just let it flow. Most of us are so busy helping everyone else in our family we don’t even know what we want, so tapping into this is key! Then take one small thing from that list and make it happen. Maybe it is to take a nap – enlist the help of a sitter, grandparent, or friend and make it happen for yourself!

  1. Shower yourself with Love. This simple ritual of self-care is so powerful! Shower and dress yourself in in something that makes you feel good. Even if you are just taking your kids to the park. Investing that loving kindness to yourself is a beautiful start to embracing your sensual, sexy self. When bathing or showering really feel gratitude and love for your body and all it does for you, tapping into this can really help you feel sexier in your skin. Even just touching your face with kindness does so much good for the nervous system. Instead of slapping on the lotion after you bathe, really enjoy the process, sending love to your body along the way.

Start your revival by integrating one or 2 of these simple practices into your life, and feel like a woman again. You will reconnect to that vibrant sexiness inside of you.

You are a better mother, partner, and friend when your cup is full. Everyone benefits.
